In 1973, Max graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Laws. He was admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria in 1985.
He has been practising Family Law since 1985 and has represented clients in Western Australia, the Northern Territory, South Australia, and Victoria. He has gained extensive experience as a lawyer appearing in the Family Court of Western Australia, the Family Court of Australia and the Federal Magistrates Court.
He is experienced in dealing with financial disputes including obtaining spousal maintenance, negotiating and litigating interim and final property settlements, resolving children’s matters such as arranging the daily care of children, dealing with relocation disputes interstate and overseas, family violence and when necessary, the appropriate supervision of parental time with children in situations of conflict.
Max is committed to achieving the best possible results for his clients and his philosophy is that each client is important and unique. He listens carefully and is accessible, caring, and proactive in dealing with the problems which confront his clients.
He takes a practical and realistic approach to resolving the problems which arise and will competently provide the advice you need when you need it.
While he aims to settle your dispute at an early stage by exploring all available options including private mediation, he is able to guide you competently through each step of the court process if early resolution cannot be achieved. He will advise you in relation to court procedures, investigating and obtaining evidence, providing disclosure, advising you of likely outcomes, negotiating on your behalf and preparing your matter for interlocutory hearings and for trial.
Family law at present is rapidly evolving in Western Australia and Max ensures that he is up to date with those changes as they are happening. He will provide you with the benefit of his years of knowledge and experience practicing as a family lawyer when you consult him. He is a member of the Law Society of Western Australia, the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia and the Family Law Practitioner’s Association of WA.
